Strangers With Candy, and strangers who like jungle.Jon and I went to see Strangers With Candy on Wednesday. Strange things were happening, and it totally wasn't because we were both really, really stoned. We were sitting in the theater, and this old man (like late 60's) comes and takes a seat two-down from Jon. He puts on his headphones, and begins blasting jungle into his ears. He starts drumming his knees, and then proceeds to dance in his chair. When the previews begin, he removes his headphones. Luckily for him/us, one of the previews features some groovy beats. He goes back to dancing in place. Jon and I just keep giving each other WTF glances. Some people came and asked if we could slide down a seat so they could sit together. I immediately obliged, as this meant that Jon would now be sitting directly next to the geriatric drum'n'bass master. At this point, we didn't know if he would continue to dance like that throughout the movie. He didn't unfortunately, but he did have quite an amusing laugh. Of course, he wouldn't laugh at the jokes or good lines in the movie, but in the most random spots. The entire theater would be quiet, and he would let out a loud "HA-HA," as if he were enthusiastically reading a script that called for him to laugh. It made the movie so much better. I sometimes for get to pack some very essential items. Like one time I went to NY on business and I forgot to pack pants. Another time I went to Utah, also on business, and forgot to pack a belt. When I was a kid, my dad took me to Vegas and I forgot socks. I'm really not sure what to expect from the next few days. I'm pretty sure they're going to be very, very busy. But after business will come a very needed break. I just sent in a reservation for España-Streb Trapeze Academy in Brooklyn. I can't wait to try it out. This'll be the 3rd trapeze rig I've flown on! Though I just realized it will have been another whole week in between flights. That's way too seldom for an addict like myself. Oh shit! And I just realized I still need to call Sean and tell him I won't be around for gymnastics for the next two weeks. Oh! This week I finally made it out to the Del Mar fair!! For years I've been wanting to go, but always miss it. Wes and I went and spent a buttload on crap. I had a gigantic polish corn dog! (Soooo good!) and we got to pet goats! They're so cute! June 16, 2006 | 7:43 AM | Link | 6 commentsHashmarks and hammocks. When nobody else is flying, the trapeze net becomes one giant, cozy hammock. I was sitting up on the platform, looking out over the whole rig, and was just suddenly taken over by the urge to go lie down in the middle of the net. It was so much better than I even thought it would be! So soft and comfy. Surrounded by trees and sunlight :).. Then I got up and started moonwalking (think Neil Armstrong, not Michael Jackson) back and forth across the net. I'm slightly burned, and I have hashmarks on my back from all the landing in—and lying about—on the net. June 14, 2006 | 10:05 PM | Link | 6 comments |
